Samsung to acquire WebOS business instead of PC biz ?? | Hires HP exec

Well well well, would you look at that ? First, there were rumors of Sammy buying HP’s PC biz, they vehemently denied it afterwards. But suddenly they have scooped up an exec from HP to manage their own PC biz. That HP exec is Raymond Wah, a VP of the PSG ( Personal systems group ) unit of HP which includes WebOS.

Digitimes reports that Samsung is also considering buying the WebOS biz. for competing with Google and Apple. wait.. what ?

So, they have considered their long time partner, a competitor now ? Way to go Google, you and Moto are screwing up the relationships. More questions arise if this rumor is true. What will happen to Bada ? Doesn’t it sell a lot more than what these WebOS devices sold in their total lifetime ? Will they abandon Android and Windows Phone to completely adopt WebOS as their only strategy ?

WebOS plus Samsung hardware sounds fun but as of now WebOS works only on Qualcomm chipsets much like Windows Phone. Samsung is an end to end sourcing company which does not want to rely on other manufacturers. How will it play out if the rumor is true ?

We just have to wait. To add more fuel to the rumors, HP and Samsung have declined to comment. Let’s see where this goes.

HTC Omega/Radar [WP7 Mango] breaks cover, looks like a small Flyer

The first impressions after looking at this below leaked photo from Pocketnow (the leakmeisters), i was reminded of the flyer design and hey Windows Phone Mango !?

Made in a gorgeous silver-white body, this HTC phone had already done it’s rumor rounds when they announced the September 1 event.

The rumored specs are : 3.8 inch Display, a 8 megapixel camera, 1.5 GHz MSM8255 Snapdragon with 512 MB RAM. Is that a Front Facing Cam in that picture ?

The 1.5 GHz bit is to be taken with a pinch of salt, otherwise the specs look ok. Another higher end HTC WPMango in the name of Eternity is set to launch along with Omega at the September 1 event. Ok, Pocketnow where is the Eternity , out with it already ! Jokes aside, we dont have to wait too long as the event is not so far away.

WSJ : iPad 3 with retina display coming 2012

Well this time it's iPad

File this under ” I knew it !”

Wall street journal, the publication which is pretty famous for getting insider information on new Apple products has *confirmed* that Apple is indeed working on the next version of the iPad with a new retina display sporting twice the resolution as the original iPad ( 1024X768 ^2 = 2048X1536 ) The resolution is very high for a ten inch display( a size which Apple will probably stick to )

Quoting WSJ, sources indicate that testing of the iPad 3 may start as early as october and will go on sale early 2012.

The next generation iPad is expected to feature a high resolution display – 2048 by 1536 compared with 1024 by 768 in the iPad 2 – and Apple’s suppliers have already shipped small quantities of components for the sampling of the iPad 3. Suppliers said Apple has placed orders for a 9.7-inch screen device.

Apple iPhone 6 rumors : Round 1

Chinese whispers ?

The iPhone 5 itself is *rumored* as of now, and now, the rumors about iPhone 6 have started doing the rounds. But no, they are not that revealing. Just the modem, it’s going to be LTE it seems. iPhone 5 is supposed to be a global phone by incorporating a dual mode qualcomm chipset that includes CDMA as well as GSM.Also, iPhone 5 is *rumored* to launch only fall, many sources have confirmed this. Here’s what rumors for iPhone 6 are like :

Back in February, Qualcomm unveiled it’s next generation of chipsets, including the MDM9615. This chip will provide enhancements in modem performance, power consumption, board area and BOM expense, exactly what Apple is looking for in its devices. The 9615 will support LTE (FDD and TDD), DC-HSPA+, EV-DO Rev-B and TD-SCDMA. This single chip is likely what we will all know as the A6 processor, and will be available in late 2011, perfect timing for Apple to start testing and ready them for production.

So, are you even remotely surprised or excited ?  I think it’s the right path for the Jebus phone. LTE would really make it WiFi independent . So, let’s wait and see how true these rumors are. Gruber would like to comment on this, perhaps ?

May i join some Nokia mudslinging ? please ?

It is very fashionable these days to have such titles on a mobile/gadget blog, no ? 🙂

So,I was browsing through the internet after some long time since my PC had gone haywire ,refused to boot while the internet experience on my ipod or the N8 proved to be dissatisfactory. While reading one of my favorite blogs, engadget , i figured they had gone overboard on some posts, so, i decided to write my own rant here 🙂
