Well this time it's iPad
File this under ” I knew it !”
Wall street journal, the publication which is pretty famous for getting insider information on new Apple products has *confirmed* that Apple is indeed working on the next version of the iPad with a new retina display sporting twice the resolution as the original iPad ( 1024X768 ^2 = 2048X1536 ) The resolution is very high for a ten inch display( a size which Apple will probably stick to )
Quoting WSJ, sources indicate that testing of the iPad 3 may start as early as october and will go on sale early 2012.
The next generation iPad is expected to feature a high resolution display – 2048 by 1536 compared with 1024 by 768 in the iPad 2 – and Apple’s suppliers have already shipped small quantities of components for the sampling of the iPad 3. Suppliers said Apple has placed orders for a 9.7-inch screen device.

It’s a milestone for the tablet landscape, largely dominated by Apple.Today, one of the worthiest competitors to the iPad , the Notion Ink’s Adam starts shipping. For people who do not know about this beast,a short foreword. It’s an Android tablet running froyo with a custom UI(Called Eden) the hardware it runs on is Nvidia Tegra 250 with dual core Cortex A9 processor and an ULP(ultra low power)Nvidia GPU.Curious to know other specs ? check out the link below.
Notion Ink, a company based in India, run by its rather flamboyant CEO Rohan Shravan, constantly updates his blog regarding all updates of his company and its tablet. While doing so, he has gathered a large fan following even if the device was delayed a number of times. This device , announced sometime earlier around january 2010, made an exceptional media appearance in all forms – concept, prototype, early laggy demos, bad ass renderings, photoshop mishaps, and finally a nice real preview out in bare sun. Originally it created a rage in the media due to its specs and then for its vaporware like mystery around its announcement. The pre-orders were reportedly messy. But finally, all the dust has settled, the Adam has started shipping after getting a green flag from both FCC and the CE.
The tablet will ship to pre order customers on the last week of January. And for others who are yet to order it, wait till they open it into the market 🙂
SPECS – all you wanna know about Adam

The Samsung galaxy tab(considered the only legitimate competitor to cupertino’s stellar seller, the Apple iPad) has sold 1 million units worldwide(speculative).
What does this number mean ? not much.., these numbers are definitely not high, considering it was pitched directly against the ipad. Samsung must not be very convinced of this number since they had very high expectations for this device. For reference, the Tab sold 600,000 units on November 22nd. So, you can get the picture , right ?
My short cameo with the Tab left me very unimpressed with its incompatibility issues, lag and some other annoying things especially the form factor, well that’s me. And there are 1 million people who are not me,and have bought this device. That’s quite a number of people and it clearly explains the marketing muscle of Samsung.
If you are still interested in buying the Tab check the specs out here.
The current market price for the Galaxy Tab in India is Rs.37,500/-
