Did you know that the device cycle for an iPhone is refreshed every year during the Summer ? Yep, that is right. Every year, since 2007 a new iPhone is released during WWDC that happens on the months of June/July. But this time Apple chose to introduce the new model in October, why ?
Hell Yeah ! The Amazon Kindle fire is the new kid on the block, and he doesn’t yell “me too!” . The price is the most important factor for this tablet and it costs 199$, which is a 100$ costlier than the touchpad that went on a fire sale few weeks back.
What is this piece of slab ?
For earlier Kindle users : It’s a tablet that augments the reader experience you earlier had, with you e-ink kindle.
For others : This tablet is not just another iPad wannabe, it is built around Amazon’s services and they want you to take advantage of it, and you know, pay for it.
What does this tablet run ?
It’s based on the Amazon ecosystem, meaning – it runs a forked version of Android, that can run Android apps but doesn’t look like Android. And it has every Amazon cloud based magical app, streams music, videos, has it’s own app store, .. etc. Oh, and you get unlimited free cloud storage for that. It has a dual core OMAP processor with sufficient amount of RAM and other unicorn dust that enables you to actually use it in a smooth manner. The user interface is a complete custom shell made by Amazon, looks like a book shelf (duh ! its Amazon ) scroll through the book shelf and you may find some apps and games too !
Why should i buy this tablet ?
Buy this, if you want to buy an iPad but don’t have the money to buy one. Yeah i am serious, this is a pretty good competitor to the iPad, and hey, XDA backs this Android running Kindle ! You remember what they did to the nook color right ?
Honestly, the price is just amazing. 199$ is the best price for a tablet for mass adoption to kick start.
No it doesn’t have 3G, it doesn’t have a camera, but it has a good browser, you can read stuff on it’s 7 inch IPS screen, use your blazing fast free home WiFi and enjoy amazon’s cloud for free.
So, What are you waiting for ? Go read other articles, if you want to see how it works, and then decide your purchase for the holidays !
Remember. Nokia windows phones are coming, iPhone 5, iPod touch 5, and may be even Galaxy S 3 ( if Samsung has already seen the iPhone 5 in a remote chinese factory ). WHATEVER YOU DO, PLAN AND DECIDE 😛
And hey, thanks for making an effort to read this crap. ciao !
Woot ! Apple finally reveals the launch date for the next version of the iPhone, it’s October 4th and the event’s name is “Let’s talk iPhone”. It’s going to happen in Apple’s cupertino campus “Infinite loop”.
This will be Apple’s new CEO Tim Cook’s first appearance on stage, to reveal a product. Will it get revealed with much fanfare and applauses like before, when Jobs was the showman ? Will the new CEO live up to Jobs’ name ?
The answer is simple : No, he can’t live up to Jobs’ name, but i am sure there will be a lot of applause if the device is stunning. According to analysts the iPhone that is going to be revealed on October 4th will be a faster version of the iPhone 4 with the exact same design with a better camera ( 8 megapixel ) and with Apple A5 dual core processor that is already present in Apple iPad 2.
Rumors are pointing towards a LTE demo too ? Will the new iPhone be like the iPhone 3G, which brought new radios along with various other enhancements ?
Let’s hope the event rocks as susal. Totally looking forward to what Tim cook is going to do on stage, All eyes on you Tim, do well !
They have done it again, and this time it’s huge. 10 million is the number of Galaxy S II devices sold. Not to the consumers per se, but to the retail channel. We can sum up this statement by Samsung as a boasting. This press release comes in the wake of the massive all-operator U.S launch that has been impending release for quite a long while. What Samsung wants to convey to us is, the retail market in the U.S i.e the operators are very happy to have that device in their shelves. So, mass booking has happened and hence the spike in sales for Samsung.
Samsung have positioned the timing of the Galaxy S II devices to roll out spot on at the time of the iPhone 5/4S launch. Sprint is the only carrier that has already launched the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G ( LOL 😛 ). Every other carrier has stocked it up already, but yet to launch. They are waiting for iPhone to launch, i think. (idiots, i say).
Full PR after the break.
The supposed leak includes specs such as :
- An unspecified Dual core processor
- 1 GB of faster RAM – does it mean ddr2 ? like in Atrix ?
- 1080p Video recording with Netflix streaming (does this suggest OMAP4 ?)
- Stylus and optional keyboard accessory planned
Other details include Adobe flash player 11 support (Supposedly the first tablet to feature this), Home automation software to be included (IR support in hardware ? ) and some built in moto apps for wirelessly syncing with your PC. Let’s just hope all these rumors are true.

Hp, recently ousted Leo Apotheker, the embattled CEO who led the company for the past year. He has been replaced with Meg Whitman, the new CEO. She had issued a statement that she will not cancel Leo’s future plans for the company.
While Meg thinks so, Digitimes, the retail channel paparazzi has heard some interesting chit chat. According to the sources, HP wants to back off from their decision to spin off their PC unit and bring back the sales. This is due to increased channel pressure. Channel partners were scared after HP’s decision to look at spinning off their PSG unit, so they looked for other PC mftrs. like Acer, who seems to be the most profitable of this change of mind. Hp is expected to ship 37-38 million notebooks in 2011, but i don’t think that will happen unless channel operators have their confidence back. Hence the rumors. So will Hp back track it’s decision ?
Meg Whitman is the only person who can answer.
The Xoom 2 has been rumored for a long time now. Finally, it has leaked in pictures. The image you see above is the face of the new Motorola Xoom 2, or should i say, Googorola Xoom 2.
Anyhow, the next version of the original Xoom, is codenamed MZ617. According to DroidLife’s sources, the Xoom2 weighs similar to the original, has HDMI and micro USB at the bottom, and a HD camera on the back with big buttons for power and rotation lock. A SIM card slot is present, assuming LTE is supported. No mention about the processor, screen size looks like the same 10.1″. And look at those angled corners, they definitely remind me of Nokia’s design styling with the N8,E7 and X7. Also, the Nokia patent design for tablet looks *very* similar. Come on Nokia, sue google/motorola NOW 😛
Let’s hope atleast this Xoom is good for a tablet experience. But for this to succeed, Android honeycomb has to be good, i don’t see that happening. Check source link for the picture of Xoom 2’s backside.
