Notion Ink Adam starts shipping today

It’s a milestone for the tablet landscape, largely dominated by Apple.Today, one of the worthiest competitors to the iPad , the Notion Ink’s Adam starts shipping. For people who do not know about this beast,a short foreword. It’s an Android tablet running froyo with a custom UI(Called Eden) the hardware it runs on is Nvidia Tegra 250 with dual core Cortex A9 processor and an ULP(ultra low power)Nvidia GPU.Curious to know other specs ? check out the link below.

Notion Ink, a company based in India, run by its rather flamboyant CEO Rohan Shravan, constantly updates his blog regarding all updates of his company and its tablet. While doing so, he has gathered a large fan following even if  the device was delayed a number of times. This device , announced sometime earlier around january 2010, made an exceptional media appearance in all forms – concept, prototype, early laggy demos, bad ass renderings, photoshop mishaps, and finally a nice real preview out in bare sun. Originally it created a rage in the media due to its specs and then for its vaporware like mystery around its announcement. The pre-orders were reportedly messy. But finally, all the dust has settled, the Adam has started shipping after getting a green flag from both FCC and the CE.

The tablet will ship to pre order customers on the last week of January. And for others who are yet to order it, wait till they open it into the market 🙂

SPECS – all you wanna know about Adam

iphone 4 .Verizon .It Begins

The title is directly extracted from verizon’s website 😉 i copied it since it directly echoes the sentiment. It’s been such a long time people craved for this and now its here, the Verizon-Apple iphone 4

Available from February 10th the iphone 4 is same as the one that sells on At&t , literally the same expect to the network being CDMA and also, verizon have enabled the mobile hotspot functionality ( take that At&t ). Also it will support the 3g compliant EV-DO tech that is based on CDMA. The only gripe about the CDMA tech is you cant use data while on a call, which is easily possible on GSM-3G, anyway who browses the Internet while on a call , no ?

Price : 199 $ with 2 year contract w/ data pack for a 16 GB iphone 4 ,299 $ for the 32 GB version.

Here’s the iphone 4 landing page

If you have been living in a cave, here are iphone 4 specs .

Nokia big screen [My Impressions]

Nokia Big screen is a beta app available on Nokia Beta Labs now available for all HDMI out supporting Symbian^3 devices like the Nokia N8 and the yet-to-be-released Nokia E7.

Nokia Big Screen

Before starting to blabber my thoughts, i will answer some FAQs

1. What does it do ?

A: After you install this app, whenever you plug the HDMI adapter to your phone, the app automatically starts. There are two faces for this app, one is on the HDTV and other is on the touch screen. The HDTV displays the media centre app in 720p while the touch screen turns into a directional remote. If you are not getting what i say, there is a clear video after the break to explain that.

2. Where can i get this app ?

A: You can get the app here and don’t forget, you should have a Nokia account to download this app.

3. What are the advantages ?

A: Your Symbian^3 device turns into a media centre, plays movies, music, slideshows in a fancy way. Movies display subtitles, Music shows lyrics if available, and of course the photo library can do a nice slideshow. And you can control everything wirelessly if you have a Wii controller or any other Bluetooth device that supports HID.So, the advantage you get is showing off your media to an audience while relaxing in your couch.

If you have any more questions don’t be shy to shoot it at me in the comments section 🙂

Head on after the break for my impressions and a video preview.

Xperia ARC : Impressions from a fan

The Xperia Arc

In an era of modern smartphones, the joint venture of the two tech Giants ‘Sony’ and ‘Ericsson’ failed to gain the respect as Samsung, HTC or Apple did. Their flagship device, the Xperia X10 received an ‘underdog’ treatment from the world market. Sony Ericsson lost the game in almost every aspects like the outdated Software and also in the Hardware front. The lack of multi touch increased the gap between the consumers and the device.

About three quarters later, Sony Ericsson has come up with a competitor which made the techies to turn their heads around at CES, and count SE as a key competitor in the smart phone market. The XPERIA ARC is “the result of the failures and boos it got from the X10”. Here are my first impressions of the device .
